Best Bissell Vacuums of 2023, Tested and Reviewed by Experts

Eureka and BISSELL vacuums occupy a similar budget-friendly niche, and offerings from each brand tend to have strengths. When comparing like-for-like models, BISSELLs usually have a wider array of convenience features, while Eurekas offer superior debris pickup performance. Dyson vacuums tend to occupy a much higher price point than BISSELL’s offerings, which is reflected in generally superior performance and better build quality. That said, BISSELL’s selection of corded models is far more extensive than what Dyson offers.

In our testing, we found this vacuum mop easy to assemble and use and were impressed with its performance in our dry pickup and wet/dry combo pickup tests. LED headlights make it easier to see the dust in its path, and unlike traditional mops, you’re never cleaning with dirty water thanks to its separate clean and dirty water tanks. BISSELL is an American manufacturer of vacuum cleaners and floor care appliances. They offer a diverse selection of vacuum cleaners, ranging from compact handheld cordless vacuums to bulky corded uprights and everything in between.

However, some BISSELL models are a little easier to maintain—many new Shark models use non-removable brushrolls that can be a hassle to clean properly. About 8 years ago I bought a shark and I just bought my third one and will continue to buy them. We updated this article in March 2023 to provide additional testing information. We included one additional product, the ICONpet Edge Cordless Vacuum. Wish it had a self propelled function but bissell vacuum cleaner is not hard to push. The sealed filtration system keeps allergens trapped inside the vacuum, which means less sniffling and sneezing. Our experts appreciate that the dust cup can be removed with the push of one button, and Febreze odor technology in the filter prevents pet odors from building in the device. It also automatically adjusts the height of the brush roll to go from carpets to bare floors and area rugs seamlessly. This cordless stick vacuum is well-loved by our experts for its powerful clean and budget-friendly price. It was a top performer in our recent test of 21 stick vacuums.

Jodhaira Rodriguez has been testing vacuums and other floor-cleaning appliances in the Good Housekeeping Home Appliances and Cleaning Products Lab since 2021. During recent testing for the 2022 Cleaning Awards, she assisted Carolyn Forté, Executive Director of the Cleaning Lab, bissell cordless vacuum in testing 24 of the newest robots, stick, canister and upright vacuums on the market. They tend to perform worse on all surface types than Shark vacuums and struggle more with clearing large debris than most Eureka vacuums, though they tend to be similarly affordable.

It took a bit of time to figure out how everything works in this vacuum, but it came with good directions. I used to have Dyson vacuum cleaner earlier, that I paid a lot more. It was great but Shark is doing at least as good job by getting rid of dog and cat hair and all other vacuuming in my house. I also find my new Shark vacuum cleaner much easier to empty. Shark vacuums are generally better built than BISSELL’s comparable offerings and deliver better overall performance.

This bagless canister vacuum has three cleaning modes and can be used across all types of flooring from carpet and hardwood to tile and linoleum. While we haven’t tested this model in the Lab just yet, our experts appreciate that it has edge-cleaning bristles to get the dust out of hard-to-reach places like baseboards and along the edges of cupboards. Bissell makes post-cleaning tasks easier with automatic cord rewind and a dust cup that is emptied with the touch of a button. Large wheels on the canister make the vacuum easy to pull along as you clean, too. This corded upright has a tangle-free brush roll and a hair spooling system in the dust cup that makes pet (and human) hair pickup — and the inevitable cleaning of the vacuum after — a breeze. It comes with three attachments, and two are specifically for tackling more pet hair messes.
